Because Six Flags is a family park, we expect guests to behave appropriately. Violating our park policies may be cause for ejection from the park without refund. For more information, please review the park policies below.
NEW: Card & Mobile Payments
Six Flags Great Adventure accepts card and mobile payments only at all locations including restaurants, retail stores, games, ticket windows, and parking toll booths. You can either pay for purchases using a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a debit card. Only have cash? You can convert your cash to a prepaid debit card at one of the multiple kiosks located throughout the park and anywhere in the U.S. where Visa is accepted. We highly encourage you to pre-purchase your parking, tickets, and more online before visiting the park.
No alcoholic beverages can be brought into Six Flags. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the park may not leave the premises in which they are purchased. Excessive consumption of alcohol is cause for ejection from the park without refund.
Guests may not enter an animal exhibit or attempt to feed, touch or interact with any Six Flags Great Adventure animal unless directed by a Six Flags employee. Guests must obey signs posted in the Safari.
We expect all guests to behave in a family-friendly manner. Line jumping, profanity and unruly behavior are offensive to park guests and may be cause for ejection without refund. Guests are not permitted to save places in line, bypass others in line, or exit the line and return to the same place for any reason. Guests exiting a line must go to the back of the line if they choose to return.
For the safety of our guests, filming is only allowed on the following rides: Carousel, Sky Ride and Big Wheel. Filming, regardless of device, secured or unsecured, is prohibited on all other rides and attractions. Tripods and monopods are not permitted in the park.
To ensure all guests visiting Six Flags Great Adventure (the “Park”) can enjoy their visit, and in keeping with our family-friendly environment, as well as for health and safety reasons, Six Flags maintains and enforces a dress code. Guests should dress casually and comfortably as is appropriate for the local weather. Park guests must wear proper attire, such as shirts, shorts/pants, and appropriate footwear, at all times.
Attire that is not appropriate for Six Flags Great Adventure, and which may result in refusal of admission or removal from the Park, includes but is not limited to:
- Clothing and tattoos with vulgar, offensive, or discriminatory symbols or language. This includes, without limitation, clothing and tattoos that display profanity, graphic violence, pornography, nudity, or that which is associated with gangs or drugs, and clothing that does not sufficiently cover undergarments.
- Clothing and tattoos which may incite a disturbance or are hateful or discriminatory to others, or may be perceived as such.
- Clothing that creates a safety risk to other guests and team members, including clothing that touches or drags on the ground.
- Clothing which, by design, exposes excessive portions of skin or that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family-friendly environment.
- Bathing suits are permitted to be worn only in the waterpark, but may be worn in the theme park if covered by otherwise appropriate attire. Please refer to the Hurricane Harbor Guest Dress Code for guidance about appropriate attire when visiting the waterpark.
Six Flags Great Adventure reserves the right to deny admission to or remove anyone whose attire does not comply with the Guest Dress Code or could detract from the experience of other guests, if the guest refuses all reasonable options. Guests requiring special accommodations should speak to a member of the Public Safety management team upon arrival at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Six Flags is not responsible for lost or stolen drink bottles. Lost or stolen drink bottles will not be replaced mid-season.
Food, beverages, coolers and grills may not be brought into the park. The only food exceptions is for food allergies as described below and infant food, in non-glass jars. Six Flags Great Adventure prohibits the use of grills and open flames in and around the property, including parking lots.
Guests who suffer from sensitivities or life-threatening allergies may bring food into the park if they do not feel comfortable with the menu options available. In this case, the food must be limited to the individual with the allergy and may contain: two sealable sandwich bags (7×8 inches) and one snack to accommodate their visit (such as a piece of fruit, or a fruit bar, or a snack that fits in a sandwich bag). One small soft-sided cooler may be brought into the park to carry these items. No outside beverages are permitted. Please see Security at Six Flags Great Adventure’s main entrance to receive a medical sticker.
Loose articles are not permitted on most rides and should be left with non-riders or secured in lockers. Six Flags and its employees are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Loose articles of any kind (including but not limited to purses, backpacks, and beverage containers) may not be taken past the queue entrance and cannot be left on the load/unload platform of the following rides: SUPERMAN: Ultimate Flight; BATMAN: The Ride; El Toro; Kingda Ka; The Dark Knight Coaster; BIZARRO; Nitro. Cell phones, pagers, or other small items must be secured in cargo pockets, zippered jacket pockets, or waist packs*. All loose articles which cannot be secured must be left in a locker or with a non-rider prior to entering the queue line. Please refer to the Safety and Accessibility Guide for a detailed list of Loose Article policies by ride.
*No loose articles will be allowed on THE JOKER, El Toro or Kingda Ka. For your safety, on these intense rides loose articles cannot be stored in a cargo or zippered pocket. Waist packs will not be permitted.
Guests using profanity or abusive language, symbols or gestures may be ejected from the park without refund.
Line jumping is strictly prohibited. Guests are not permitted to save places in line or exit the line and return for any reason. Violators will be ejected without a refund.
By entering the park, guests grant Six Flags the right to film, video, record or photograph them on park property for any reason without payment or consideration. Six Flags requests that all photographs or video taken by our guests be used for their personal use and enjoyment only. Any use, reuse or reproduction for commercial purposes without the express written consent of Six Flags is strictly prohibited. Six Flags reserves the right to refuse to allow photography of any kind as necessary at individual locations. No commercial photography of any kind is permitted. Specifically, the use of the following equipment is not permitted:
- Any camera mounted to a vehicle, drone, cart, scooter or other moving object
- No cameras (video, still, cell-phone, smart phones, etc.) are allowed on any rides at any time. No exceptions.
All Six Flags rides, shows and attractions are protected by copyright. Guests must have written permission to use photographs and/or videotape of Six Flags images for commercial broadcasting, advertising, marketing or publishing in any medium.
In addition to the Six Flags Guest Code of Conduct, guests are required to comply with all local, state and federal laws, as well as individual park policies, rules and instructions posted or otherwise listed.
Pets are not permitted in the park, with the exception of service animals.
Trained service animals are welcome at our Six Flags Theme Parks.
Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals. Miniature horses that have been individually trained to do or perform tasks for people with disabilities will qualify as service animals.
Service animals must be house broken and remain on a leash or harness and under the control of their handler at all times. Guests whose service animal demonstrates aggressive and/or annoying actions toward a Guest or Team Member will be directed to remove the animal from the park.
Service animals are welcome in most locations of the park. Most of our rides are not equipped or designed for accessibility to service animals. Therefore, a member of your party must be available to stay with the animal while you ride.
Service animals, excluding miniature horses, are permitted on Sky Ride, Big Wheel, and Bugs Bunny Camp Carousel on the bench.
- Haunted Mazes:
Guests with service animals, please note that these attractions uss loud noises, theatrical lighting, special effects, and sudden moments intended to provide our guests with a thrilling experience. We rely on you to determine whether this attraction is appropriate for your service animal to experience. We remind guests with service animals that they must maintain full control of their service animal at all times while in the Park.
Guests may take advantage of our Kid Swap policy for staying with their service animal. However, park Team Members will not take responsibility for, or provide care to any service animal. Refer to the section on Kid Swap for more information.
Service Animal “Relief Areas” are located in the grassy areas to the left of the Dark Knight, and between El Toro and Bizarro. Owners are responsible for disposing of their animal’s waste.
In addition to all items previously mentioned, the following items are not permitted at Six Flags Great Adventure, at any time:
- Aerosol cans – with the exception of sun screen, bug spray & hygiene products
- Lawn chairs and folding chairs
- Magic markers, spray paint and aerosol cans
- Glass bottles
- Knives or chains
- Spiked clothing or jewelry
- Fireworks and explosives
- Firearms and ammunition
- Chemical weapons, including mace and pepper spray
- Selfie sticks, monopods, and similar devices
- Unmanned ariel vehicles (drones)
- Portable speakers
- While food and drink are prohibited, you may enter the park with an empty refillable drink container.
The park offers many activities that are amazingly fun in any kind of weather — including shows, restaurants, shops, games and arcades. Guest safety is our number one priority. There are certain weather circumstances that may cause the entire park to close earlier than scheduled or not open at all. If rain, wind or electrical storms force us to close certain rides for your safety, they will re-open as soon as safe operations can be assured.
Six Flags Great Adventure will issue a complimentary return ticket to enjoy the park another day if a power failure or severe weather causes the shut down of the majority of the rides at our Park for more than 90 minutes at a time. You must present your original Six Flags Great Adventure one-day ticket stub or receipt with the correct date to the Guest Relations Office in order to receive a free return ticket. Tickets are non-refundable.
Guests are not permitted to enter restricted areas, including ride and backstage areas. Personal items that are lost in ride areas should be reported to the ride operator and Lost and Found. Six Flags will make every effort to retrieve lost articles after normal operating hours. Guests entering restricted areas may be ejected from the park without refund.
Safety is our number-one priority. Guests with certain body proportions, or of certain heights and/or weights, may not be able to enjoy certain rides if the safety restraints will not operate as designed. Specific ride information is available at the ride and at the Ride Information Center. For your convenience, a one-time height check is available at the Ride Information Center next to My Six Flags Photo and the fountain so our smaller guests don’t have to be re-measured at each attraction.
There is an inherent risk in participating in any amusement ride. We expect riders to exercise good judgment and act in a responsible manner. Guests must also obey all oral and written warnings and properly use all ride safety equipment provided. Guests who do not comply with ride rules may be ejected from the park without refund. Please refer to specific guidelines posted at the entrance of every ride.
Season Pass holders must present their passes to gain entrance to the park. Season Pass entry is only valid once a day. Guests who leave the park and plan to return must get their hands stamped before they leave the park at the exit/re-entry gate. When guests return to the park, they must enter through the re-entry gate with a proper hand stamp. Transferring hand stamps is a violation of Six Flags policies and is strictly prohibited. During Fright Fest, guests may exit and re-enter prior to 8 p.m. at no additional charge, but must purchase an additional ticket if they wish to leave and re-enter after 8 p.m. When Guests return to the park they must enter through the re-entry gate with a proper hand stamp or re-entry will not be allowed.
Six Flags uses a combination of electronic photo IDs and what are called “biometric passes” to secure access into our parks. At parks using photo IDs, we will simply take your photo at the time of your first entry to the park. When you use your pass again, we will present your picture to our employee to validate your identity. We will not scan your facial geometry or landmarks, nor perform any other type of analysis on your image. Pictures will be used only to verify passholder identity and we will encrypt all stored pictures. We will not share the pictures with anyone outside Six Flags.
At parks using biometric passes, we take a scan of your finger to link your card to your unique number. The scan of your finger does not contain enough information to recreate your fingerprint. When you arrive at the park, you’ll simply scan your finger to make sure it matches the record in our system and be on your way. We will only use the scan of your finger to authenticate you as the owner of your Season Pass or Membership and will delete the number following expiration or cancellation of your Season Pass or Membership (including a reasonable period of time to allow you to purchase or renew a lapsed Season Pass or Membership).

If you do not wish to have a biometric pass, you are not required to. If you feel uncomfortable using our biometric access control system, you may choose to have a traditional Six Flags Photo ID pass instead where we will use a photograph of you to validate your identity each time you visit the park instead of your finger scan. To receive a Six Flags Photo ID, please inform one of our team members when you first arrive at the park who will direct you to the Season Pass Center. An additional waiting time may be required for the Six Flags Photo ID processing at the Season Pass Center.
Selfie sticks, monopods, and similar devices are not allowed inside Six Flags parks.
Six Flags allows smoking only in areas identified as designated smoking areas. All other areas in the parks are smoke-free, and smoking is strictly prohibited.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests, Six Flags prohibits the operation or use of any unmanned aerial vehicle on, from, or above Six Flags’ premises absent specific written consent. This includes all UAVs, also commonly known as “drones,” regardless of their size, weight or purpose.
